If I can go on the assumption that you are using anti-aliased text, and therefore the render extension, and that when you say konqueror freezes, you mean your whole desktop, then you have been bitten by the infamous "render extension and long lines of text bug". If not, then it's something new and feel free to file a (more detailed) bug report at bugs.kde.org. HTH and HAND.
