The core abstractions are not JSON specific, although naming does contain 'JSON' in many places, due to historical reasons. . This package contains Jackson 3 (Java package tools.jackson.core). It can be installed together with Jackson 2 (libjackson2-core-java). - Why is this package useful? Jackson 3 is a new major version that upstream maintains next to Jackson 2, with new Maven groups and Java packages (tools.jackson.*), so it is a separate source package. Its first user is scaladoc, the Scala 3 documentation tool. - Names: source jackson3-core, binary libjackson3-core-java, jar jackson3-core.jar. Nothing is shared with Jackson 2. The Expat part is the bundled Schubfach number formatting code; FastDoubleParser is not bundled, it comes from libfastdoubleparser-java. - Maintenance: in the Debian Java team.
