I understood the plan for OpenJDK 6 was that the teams from Red Hat
and Canonical, who are supporting OSes that include OpenJDK 6 for a
few years to come, were going to take on maintenance, presumably
including security - is this not the case? (I apologise if I have been
keeping insufficiently close track of things.)
