Please be careful to distinguish between DDTP and DDTSS, they're wholly separate systems. The DDTP uses a true PostgreSQL database and is built so that it doesn't matter if it misses a few updates. It's practically indestructable. The DDTSS is however a lot flakier, being built on BDBv1. This is the bit I believe most people have the issues with. It would be nice to got through the code and fix it, unfortunately I don't have the time I had when I wrote it.
