A little bit simpler, but even more friendly is a small kebab shop near the theatre, which has at least IMHO very fine turkish (syrian?) tea. You'll find it, if you go about 100-200m north beside the tramway to the big crossway. There you go right and after 300-500m on the right side the is the entrance at the corner of the block. At the opposite side of the street there is a small parking lot under trees. It's outside the map on http://hydra.linuxtag.uni-kl.de/~joey/LT2004/shopping/, but at http://stadtplan.karlsruhe.de/, you can access the complete town map (although with JS not working in Mozilla from Woody *grmpf*, but a short view at the HTML source helps a lot ;-).
