Hi,

I checked syslog. I have now checked the others you mentioned also.No it was
not on the same machine. It is a HP t5630 thinclient that I netboot. It worked
nicely with debian-edu 5 yesterday ;) but of course something might have
changed in version 6.

If I use the diskless workstation and starts it as a thin client (using either
the 10.0.0.0 network or the 192.168.0.0 network) I can login. But that machine
is added to ldap using GOsa. The real thinclient I just connected to the
192.168.0.0 network not adding anything to ldap

I checked the  ~/.xsession-errors and I can see that something is wrong..
BTW what does these entries really mean?

---Snip
found outputs, known: false

activate external configuration!!
---End Snip

I attached the entire log down but the problem is;
kdeinit4: Fatal IO error: client killed

kded4: Fatal IO error: client killed

Why does that happen? I could see on the net that it happens sometimes with kde
and that it is related to hardware at least the issues I found regarding
Ubuntu, but have you any experience about this in debian-edu?

I see warnings in kdm.log but are they fatal? (attached).

It is a bit annoying that it gets problems with squeeze, but not lenny.

Thanks for your time btw. It is apreciated.  /George

Which logs did you check?  The users ~/.xsession-errors might have
something useful, and /var/log/kdm.log too.

I would guess some hardware related issue.  Perhaps the video card
isn't working well with X.org?  What kind of machine is this?

Is this using the same machine?

BTW: Please make sure to send replies to debian-edu@.
