On Debian systems audio is generally only available to members of the audio group: crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 4 2002-03-14 21:51 /dev/audio crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 3 2002-03-14 21:51 /dev/dsp so try sound once as root (eg using xmms). If that works then the problem is the above and you need to just add users to the audio group. This information is for the server not for the thin clients. Using sound on the thin clients is possible, but a bit more complicated and less advisable (large bandwidth usage). Gavin
