pristine-tar almost always fail when there are multiple orig tar files. I did not report bugs since the limitation of not working 100% is a known issue already. Many packages in js-team and gitlab package is an example. In some cases when origtargz command fails, gbp export-orig --pristine-tar works. Again this incompatibility between using pristine-tar directly and gbp export-orig seems like a known issue. A simple fix would probably for origtargz to fall back to gbp export-orig if pristine-tar fail.
