I don't think there is any source for that information that one can really trust ATM, AFAIK. We could add it in userspace, but this is the kind of thing much better done in the kernel (and it is trivial to do it there, too). That way, it would not get in the way of creative ideas like some of the stuff posted elsewhere in this thread, such as that 6KiB binary initramfs "init" stub to keep working. -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them.
