Yes.

Out of 5 adult people in my family, all of them read their mail daily.

4 of them do it through a web interface and have absolutely no use of
a mail server on their local machine. And none of them has a mail
server on his|her local machine.

MTA on average people's desktop machine are point less. Is there
anyone who is *not* a Linux "geek" to deny this?

I will personnally fully second all attempts to drop an MTA from the
standard task. And do my best to make it a reality for jessie.
