In case it is the bug report Neil mentioned[1], it looks more like a misunderstanding: Thomas does not say that zookeeper is "not good enough", only that he might not be able to (is not confident enough to) maintain the package for the lifetime of a Debian release. (The title of the bug report might be a bit misleading.) It might also be worth pointing out that he has asked for help with maintaining the package. Redirecting someone interested in the Debian package there might help getting the package included in a stable release (it is not required to be a Debian developer to maintain packages in Debian).
