Lintian's detection can be workarounded by rewriting the preinst script in c (I think that one of the bug reports has a user submission doing that), which is required to make dash the only package providing the /bin/sh symlink. I tried to clone your git repository but it 404s, so I can't check what other changes you've made so far and see if there's any conflict. Is your repository available anywhere else? Like others have mentioned, it might be more convenient if dash's maintenance was moved to alioth, but I'm not going to push on that.
