I see no reason, because you have a disagreement with John, to be uselessly aggressive. So far, apart from insisting a little on the issue, but doing so in a quite civilized way, I have seen nothing in John's arguments that could motivate a rude answer from yours. I was about to make the same comment about the difficulty to maintain solution #4....probably without the need as doing (false) assumptions about openess wrt localization work. I have great respect for the work you guys are doing in maintaining KDE stuff but I think there's a bit of overreaction here. We're "just" having a discussion where peoples' opinions differ...that happens sometimes, no?
