Note that librote doesn't support utf-8 at all, which is kind of backwards nowadays. librote isn't very fixeable in that regard btw. Note that this breakage is _obvious_ on the upstream's screenshots. Though they could base their work on http://git.madism.org/?p=madtty.git that is a rework of librote I did, and that does support utf-8 [though it misses some uncommited changes to work great]. This is the base of code that I used to do that: http://blog.madism.org/index.php/2007/11/10/141 It supports utf-8, gets colors right[0] (you cannot launch rote applications in rote applications, colors are wrong). Though the API is quite unlike rote, and not documented. And given the triviality of the reworked code, I'm unsure this warants being a shared library btw.
