Stem Desktop is a desktop concept for old hardware (166Mhz/64M). The core element is Debian stable base install where suitable programs are retrieved from Debian package repositories. The end result is minimalistic and streamlined, fast, easily manageable low memory desktop with all the usual graphical utilities for Internet access, office and mail. The finished system is secure (firewall) and easily kept up to date with standard Debian packaging system utilities. After install, the system can be upgraded from Debian stable to any Debian maintenance release (testing, unstable etc.) http://debian.cante.net/stem/ Cheers and Beers, Kev -- | .''`. == Debian GNU/Linux == | my web site: | | : :' : The Universal |mysite.verizon.net/kevin.mark/| | `. `' Operating System | go to counter.li.org and | | `- http://www.debian.org/ | be counted! #238656 | | my keyserver: subkeys.pgp.net | my NPO: cfsg.org | |join the new debian-community.org to help Debian! | |_______ Unless I ask to be CCd, assume I am subscribed _______|
