There's historical reasons... Many years ago when Anthony Fok and I started localizing the Debian website into Chinese, we used Big5 (that is Traditional Chinese), as we are native to it. When the Debian website is built, the Big5 version is converted to GB2312 automatically. One of the reasons is we can keep both Traditional and Simplified Chinese versions consistent and in sync. Another reason is at that time it seemed there was not enough manpower to maintain both versions. If there are some brave guys out there who are willing to step forward and take up the responsibility to maintain the Simplified Chinese version, we can re-visit the topic. :) I know using Traditional Chinese is a serious impediment to some people who want to contribute to the website, and sometimes even cause confusion. > > And, it seems that zh-hk[1] and zh-tw[2] pages are actually in > Simplified Chinese. Is that expected? No, it was not expected. The problem was, the original version was in Simplified Chinese, and so zh-tw.html showed Simp. Chinese instead.
