Yes, gcc-4.0 changed the default compilation options on alpha from -mieee to
-mno-ieee.  Again.  This is incredibly stupid, nobody in their right mind
actually *wants* -mno-ieee for general-purpose code and it's not a sane
default.  Several other packages have already failed on alpha as a result of
this when built with gcc-4.0.

I'm cloning this bug to the gcc-4.0 package; I hope Matthias will be able to
persuade upstream to apply sane default flags on alpha, or at least
reintroduce the patch that was used to fix bug #212912 in gcc-3.3.
