I'm one of the users of tdiary :) # and had worked for DSA for this package http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=572417 Those swf files are not main component for tdiary, but just an addon, so option 5 approach is kind for us (me, upstream authors and other users). And surely I can test it (roughly, though).
