Hi, thanks for your feedback. Sorry for not reporting this - I'm using Debian testing and the Debian multimedia (deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org/ testing main) packages - maybe it's related to these libraries...
I just compiled Aqualung R-1032 from source and it works fine for me. So if it's not an issue in the Debian testing but rather a compatibility issue with multimedia and testing, I apologize and you may close this report. I must admit that this could really be the case, since I remember that VLC was once broken because of some incompatible multimedia libs.
