I would imagine that the FTP Team's decision on that was for actual
source code: computer instructions which are *run* at some point.
You know, a waf file which is *used*.
Since that is not the case for this particular file, it may well be
just fine with them.
Perhaps an FTP Team member could comment?
Question for the FTP Team:
Is it okay to have a file in the upstream source tarball which:
- itself meets the DFSG
- is in a format which is strange but well documented and easily read
using std tools
- is not useful documentation
- is not run or touched in any way during the build process
- is not included in the generated binaries
My own opinion would be that such a free but useless file should not
be considered problematic.
