Package: libgconf2-4 Version: 3.2.3-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
the upgrade from gconf 2.32.4-1 to 3.2.3-1 broke the support for GCONF_DEFAULT_SOURCE_PATH. The latter had been introduced to allow tools like jhbuild to tell GConf about additional places to search for defaults and settings. Without this support Sugar [1] won't work inside sugar-jhbuild [2] as no defaults are set. This is partially due to an upstream bug (Gnome#664031 [3]) and partially because Debian explicitly configures GConf to use the new DBus backend (which lacks GCONF_DEFAULT_SOURCE_PATH support) instead of the default ORBit backend (which supports GCONF_DEFAULT_SOURCE_PATH). Invocation on a system that still has gconf 2.32.4-1: sascha.silbe@mimosa:~$ ~/sugar-jhbuild/sugar-jhbuild run gconftool-2 --get /desktop/sugar/desktop/favorites_layout ring-layout sascha.silbe@mimosa:~$ Invocation on a system with gconf updated to 3.2.3-1: (wheezy-jhbuild)sascha.silbe@twin:~$ ~/sugar-jhbuild/sugar-jhbuild run gconftool-2 --get /desktop/sugar/desktop/favorites_layout No value set for `/desktop/sugar/desktop/favorites_layout' (wheezy-jhbuild)sascha.silbe@twin:~$ [1] http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/What_is_Sugar%3F [2] http://wiki.sugarlabs.org/go/Development_Team/Jhbuild [3] https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=664031 -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libgconf2-4 depends on: ii gconf2-common 3.2.3-1 ii libc6 2.13-21 ii libdbus-1-3 1.4.16-1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.98-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.28.8-1 ii libldap-2.4-2 2.4.25-4 ii libxml2 2.7.8.dfsg-5 libgconf2-4 recommends no packages. libgconf2-4 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
