Yes, I added the checks where it dies in debian/rules to ensure I (or
whoever NMUs it) don't try to build without all of the components. So,
I guess what happened here is that dpkg-buildpackage didn't
incorporate the two subproject tarballs. I have not delved in detail
to what svn-buildpackage does - but the main tarball is untarred just
in the same directory the two other ones are, then the diffs in SVN
are applied to it, and I guess dpkg-buildpackage is called to take
from that point on. Maybe when untarring, you should look for
${packagename}_${version}.orig(-whatever)?.tar.gz

Hm, that's quite odd, it basically says it didn't find the orig
tarballs, right? :-/
