Hi Luigi,
As you asked, I installed a more recent version of
the drupal6 package: version 6.14-1.
I'm happy to report that the bug I originally
reported seems to be fixed.
The command
$ aptitude install drupal6
now reports some boring stuff and
Setting up dbconfig-common (1.8.41) ...
Setting up drupal6 (6.14-1) ...
dbconfig-common: writing config to /etc/dbconfig-common/drupal6.conf
Creating config file /etc/dbconfig-common/drupal6.conf with new version
Creating config file /etc/drupal/6/sites/default/dbconfig.php with new
version
www-data www-data 0750 /var/lib/drupal6/files
which looks OK to me.
The bad news?
After manually creating a mysql database named
"drupal" with user "root", pointing Firefox at
http://localhost:<port>/drupal6/
returns
"The error was: The database type '' is
unsupported. Please use either 'mysql' or
'mysqli' for MySQL, or 'pgsql' for PostgreSQL
databases.."
and
http://localhost:,port>/drupal6/install.php
returns

I happened to notice that
/etc/drupal/6/sites/default/dbconfig.php
(which is evidently managed by ucf) contains no
values for $dbtype, $dbname, etc... and
/usr/share/doc/drupal6/README.Debian.gz
doesn't say to manually edit it.
I'm using version 3.0018 of ucf and have yet to
fully install drupal.
What do you think?
