Debian has the TeXLive packages in its archives. Those collect the actual LaTeX packages from dante etc. The texlive team in Debian doesn't change those usually in order to keep upstream sources as unchanges as possible. Thus we are not going to include it in packages currently available. On the other hand Norbert is actively working on TexLive 2008/2009 which AFAICS will have moderncv included. So, please be patient and wait for new packages to be installed into sid. It will happen eventually. :) Cheers, Hauke
