Yes, but is that of any help for G3 users? If mplayer itself is compiled using -maltivec, then mplayer would crash even before it hits any code of ffmpeg. If mplayer itself does not use any altivec instructions and restricts altivec usage to libavcodec, then I'd say the bug can be closed.
