I do not think this bug should have been closed. 507630. The problem I have tried to describe in #510692 is that it is not obvious how the user can set which is a preferred application when a media is inserted. I do not think it is related with g-v-m, but the way nautilus registers an application as the default one for a kind of media (eg. f-spot or gthumb in my previous example).
