Package: signing-party Version: 0.4.13-1 Severity: important I wanted to sign Steffen Joeris' key after I met him in Alice Springs, but I couldn't do that because the version of my key in ~/.caff/gnupghome/pubring.gpg had expired, but I had updated the one in ~/.gnupg/pubring.gpg ages ago and republished it. It took me a while to realise that "unusable secret key" meant that the public portion had expired. Simply exporting it from the gpg public keyring and importing it into the caff public keyring.
So, I think it would be good if caff could either update the signing key from the keyservers, or from ~/.gnupg/pubring.gpg before proceeding with signing. Also, I asked micah about this and he said this: <pabs> you around? I need some help with caff <pabs> it thinks my key is expired because the one in the public keyring in /home/pabs/.caff/gnupghome didn't get updated from /home/pabs/.gnupg/ <pabs> I guess I should just import from one and export to the other? <pabs> ah, nevermind, that seems to have worked <pabs> weird it doesn't do that automatically <micah> yeah I've noticed odd things with caff like that <micah> for example, I tried changing my signing key to a new key and it didn't notice it <pabs> I think I'll report a bug about that <micah> and the only way I figured it out was by moving my .caff directory out of the way and then it re-made it with the config <micah> yeah, I meant to when it happened to me, but I was confused about what happened so I should have gone back and re did it all to figure out what exactly the problem was and report a but, but ... i didn't :) <micah> so if you do report that bug, thanks, because you reported it for me too :) <micah> and I'm sorry I didn't report it sooner so you didn't have to <pabs> micah: mind if I paste your problem in the bug too? <micah> no go ahead -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-3-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages signing-party depends on: ii gnupg 1.4.6-2 GNU privacy guard - a free PGP rep ii libgnupg-interface-perl 0.33-6 Perl interface to GnuPG ii libmailtools-perl 1.77-1 Manipulate email in perl programs ii libmime-perl 5.425-1 Perl5 modules for MIME-compliant m ii libtext-template-perl 1.44-1.1 Text::Template perl module Versions of packages signing-party recommends: ii dialog 1.1-20071028-1 Displays user-friendly dialog boxe ii exim4 4.69-1 meta-package to ease Exim MTA (v4) ii exim4-daemon-light [mail- 4.69-1 lightweight Exim MTA (v4) daemon ii libpaper-utils 1.1.23 library for handling paper charact ii libtext-iconv-perl 1.4-3 converts between character sets in ii recode 3.6-14 Character set conversion utility ii whiptail 0.52.2-11.1 Displays user-friendly dialog boxe -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise
