Package: tex4ht
Version: 20071211-2
Severity: normal

This is a problem for me because I want to use tex4ht in a web
application with file names I don't control.

I can of course use tex4ht directly in this instance; quoting $1 every
time it occurs in htlatex would at least help with characters other
than that used for quoting. A quick and easy way to fix it would be to
rewrite htlatex in Perl, though that would pull in Perl. I presume
there's a way of dealing with the problem in a shell script too.
