Hi Paul, Does this crash of the X server on exit still occurs? Did you have a chance to try with a more recent Xserver and ATI driver? xserver-xorg-core 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-6 is currently in testing while xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.6.192 is in experimental. Since the backtrace of your crash didn't contain anything apparently ATI specific, I'd suggest upgrading only xserver-xorg-core first.
