We have file archive with a set of mirrors, with includes apt-proxy (approx) cache. It is very convenient to have them all with equal uid/gid (for example, to avoid nfs problems -- these files are exported via nfs). It does not look as a good idea to add approx uid/gid on all workstations (including non-Linux and Linux-non-Debian workstations) which mount the file archive. And numeric uid/gid on nfs-mounted filesystem is uncomfortable for users. Thank you for the approx! -- Alexandra N.
