In re: this bug, I too noticed that Orion's belt was 2/3 missing (in 0.81 - I am running a testing box) so checked on the Sourceforge site for Stellarium. This is a known bug - apparently stars of 'unknown' spectral type are rendered incorrectly (colored black). It is fixed in v. 0.82 which I believe is now in unstable.
