That explains it -- very useful! I installed kcontrol and expected to get kwindecoration; I didn't know it was in another package called kwin. I can now uninstall kdebase and its dependencies, making for a much cleaner server installation. Since all the other appearance modules get installed with kcontrol, I suggest adding kwin as a suggests or recommends for kcontrol. Please close the bug report.
