Package: prboom Version: 2:2.2.6-1 Severity: important prboom freezes after starting a game using freedoom when it first tries to play a sound (for example when you first fire the pistol) if there is no /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg
If I install timidity or even instead just do: # mkdir /etc/timidity # touch /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg then it works fine, albeit with no music obviously. With timidity+freepats the music works too. The same problem happens playing using the Ultimate Doom WAD but less reliably, sometimes it starts ok (playing sounds but not music) and then freezes up a few seconds or minutes into play. Again, no problem if /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg is there. After it freezes I have to kill X, just killall'ing -9 prboom leaves the X server not responding to the mouse (even if I ran prboom -nomouse) Since prboom gets its MIDI synthesis from libsdl-mixer1.2 I guess the bug could be partly or entirely there instead of in prboom, if so apologies for misfiling the bug report.
