don't you think it's a bit rude to close a bug like that? It's all well and good that 'depmod -a' provides a workaround, but shouldn't that be run by the package's postinst then? If there's some policy reason why packages installing modules should not do that, a debconf message along the lines of "Don't forget to run 'depmod -a' if you don't intend to reboot anyway." would be a nice touch.
