I suspected this argument to come ;-)

Actually, from a cdbs packaging standpoint, I believe it might not be:

If the old packaging works by simply including the python cdbs snippet,
and the new one works the same, then it is (theoretically, at least) a
matter of adding an option to force using the old cdbs rules.
