I made the change above and removed mine and everything is great. 
Discover now loads snd-emu10k1-synth and emu10k1-gp.  My sound and
synths are functioning.  I can't test the gameport but the kernel sees
it.  As far as I can tell, those modules are compatible.  When I was
trying to get this to work, my speakers screamed a time or two.  I
suspected that oss module, but now realize I was just missing the -i
switch on asfxload.  I booted win32 just before the speakers freaked,
so I'll blame that.

As for #246405, my soundfont is still loading from a file I dumped in
/etc/modutils/, but I'm willing to be a test case if you need one.
