Package: fonts-noto-core-NEW Severity: normal Subject: Removing fonts-noto-core unexpectedly removes Cinnamon desktop meta packages
Description: While removing fonts-noto-core on Debian 12 Cinnamon, several essential desktop meta-packages were removed unexpectedly. This includes 'cinnamon-desktop-environment' and 'task-cinnamon-desktop'. Additionally, system fallback fonts were missing, causing display issues in the terminal and menus. Steps to reproduce: 1. sudo apt purge fonts-noto-core 2. Observe that Cinnamon desktop meta-packages are removed 3. Terminal fonts display as empty boxes Expected behavior: - Only the Noto fonts should be removed - Essential desktop packages must remain installed - System fallback fonts should stay intact Additional information: - Debian 12 (Cinnamon) - Problem occurs only when using 'sudo apt purge fonts-noto-core' - Installing 'fonts-noto-core' again restores desktop functionality -- System Information--------------: Debian Release: 12.13 APT prefers oldstable-updates APT policy: (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable-security'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-43-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled
