No, I agree with you that it should not be required and I am sorry that I gave you the wrong URL. The one I should have used is (it doesn't require logging in): http://bugs.kde.org/121633 > As a Debian maintainer, dealing with upstream is one of your tasks. > You're never obliged to close a bug because upstream does, if you > believe them to be wrong. I probably didn't handle this properly. I do believe that your suggestion is worthwhile, however I understand that the upstream developer is busy and may choose to ignore certain suggestions in order to handle the huge volume of bugs he gets every week (and release K3b 1.0). That said, I think you are suggesting that I should have left the bug open with perhaps a "wontfix" tag. Is that correct? > I'm also surprised that on 2/9/2006 while writing to upstream you > quoted extensively a message I wrote, introducing it with a > paraphrase without clearly marking the quote -- making it seem as > though you were the author of it. You're right, while I attributed the "thought" to the original bug reporter, I could have made it more explicit that those were your actual words. I didn't intend to pretend I was the original author, my apologies. Anyhow, I am glad that you responded and expressed your disappointment. I am working on this project in order to help out users and have fun. Frustrating users is clearly a sign that I have failed in my first goal and should have done things differently. I also appreciate your taking the time to report the problem you were having in the first place. Francois -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
