IMO there is no reason, why thunderbird should not be upgradable, as the plugins will not break it. This is (as I believe) just a dependency-setting-problem in the repo and might be easily corrected. The packags which block the upgrade are "webext-dav4tbsync", "webext-eas4tbsync" and "webext-tbsync". Maybe you might want to take a look at this? Thanks for reading and your help.
