And in my understanding, an ecmascript file served as text/javascript will be correctly processed.
Historically, ecmascript media types implied stricter processing with things related to character encoding and such. I don't rememeber the details, but there were differences.
Please feel free to challenge my choice, there is still time to upload another update before the release. If you wish so, I would like to suggest that you ask for broader support on debian-devel. I promise that I will follow the consensus that (hopefully) emerges.
This is truly a small issue. I was pushing for a "safe" and "correct" (never mapping t/javascript to .es) solution as opposed to a "nice" one (dropping the old t/ecmascript), but this is such a small issue that asking on d-devel would be a waste of time for me, you, and everyone else involved.
Most likely, either solution will be just fine. And, if not, people are free to report bugs :)
Bye!
