SASL is not stable with 4.4 in the version packaged for Debian. It may not be either in the latest versions. BDB breaks APIs between versions (4.2/4.3/4.4), and SASL has, so far, *always* been bitten by it. Sometimes it is small things like dumping uninitialized buffers to syslog verbatim(!), but other crap happens too. You have to validate the entire code to the new API before you switch. If you are not going to do this, don't switch BDB versions. -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them. One disk to bring them all and in the darkness grind them.
