Rather than wishing to make changes to the settings.py (actually /etc/mailman3/mailman-web.py) that might cause problems for upstream versions and their migrations, I added the following to /etc/mailman3/mailman-web.py to suppress the warnings in the short term, which appears to have been successful. # Attempt to silence warnings about primary key fields arising from Django 3.2 SILENCED_SYSTEM_CHECKS=["models.W042"] I assume this will be, and maybe has been fixed upstream, but such a change may be useful to others in the meantime.
