  Hm. Another amd64 user (CC'ed) reported yesterday that building this
  modified xine-lib fixed amarok trouble for him.

  Gabor, can you try with a fresh user account, xine-lib 1.1.1-1.1 and
  amarok-xine 1.4-beta2-3.
