As discussed over at https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/11314 I've rebuilt src:systemd 240-2 with b261494 added as a quilt patch, and this time I added "log_buf_len=1M" to the boot options. Result: still the same (i.e. lots of modules not loaded, and lvm warnings/timeouts). I'm attaching dmesg and kern.log from this attempt (and will mention them in the gh issue once the BTS has recorded this message).
