Package: traceroute
Version: 1.4a12-20
Running traceroute on alpha generates a large number of unaligned access
messages (appearing in the kernel log).
For example, I run:
~(0)$ traceroute www.cam.ac.uk
traceroute to www.cam.ac.uk (131.111.8.46), 30 hops max, 52 byte packets
1 router.trin.cam.ac.uk (131.111.212.62) 21.723 ms 20.831 ms 1.559 ms
2 route-north-3.cam.ac.uk (193.60.94.126) 1.527 ms 1.065 ms 1.490 ms
3 route-cent-3.cam.ac.uk (131.111.2.126) 1.487 ms 1.112 ms 1.166 ms
4 scorpius.csx.cam.ac.uk (131.111.8.35) 1.879 ms 1.238 ms 1.487 ms
And I get the following messages:
traceroute(1832): unaligned trap at 0000000120001a10: 000000012001d92c 2d 1
traceroute(1832): unaligned trap at 0000000120001a14: 000000012001d924 2d 2
traceroute(1832): unaligned trap at 0000000120001a10: 000000012001d92c 2d 1
traceroute(1832): unaligned trap at 0000000120001a14: 000000012001d924 2d 2
This fills up the kernel log rather quickly if you run quite a few traces,
though it does not appear to affect functionality at all.
The kernel is 2.6.15.4, but I don't think this should be at all related
(though I haven't tried any others). The machine is a Digital 433au (so
processor is EV56).
