Package: libcoap Version: 4.1.2-1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
I just tried building this package on Debian Jessie as most of our infrastructure still uses this release. Out-of-the-box, it will not build due to the version of debhelper, however if you tell it to ignore this, it builds just fine. This suggests the version of debhelper could be dropped back to what's available in Jessie and thus make it trivial for people to build this package for Debian Jessie systems without needing to tweak the Stretch version of the source package. root@ac943b4e037b:/tmp/libcoap/libcoap-4.1.2# dpkg -l debhelper Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Architecture Description +++-========================================-=========================-=========================-====================================================================================== ii debhelper 9.20150101+deb8u2 all helper programs for debian/rules root@ac943b4e037b:/tmp/libcoap/libcoap-4.1.2# dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -b dpkg-buildpackage: source package libcoap dpkg-buildpackage: source version 4.1.2-1 dpkg-buildpackage: source distribution unstable dpkg-buildpackage: source changed by Carsten Schoenert <c.schoen...@t-online.de> dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture amd64 dpkg-source --before-build libcoap-4.1.2 dpkg-source: info: using options from libcoap-4.1.2/debian/source/options: --extend-diff-ignore=^\.travis\.yml$ dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: debhelper (>= 10.2.2~) dpkg-buildpackage: warning: build dependencies/conflicts unsatisfied; aborting dpkg-buildpackage: warning: (Use -d flag to override.) -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.9 APT prefers oldstable-updates APT policy: (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.12.9+ (SMP w/16 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: unable to detect
