Then it was a slow creep up over the past year due to an overly restrictive max-delete. End result is the same that we ended up having files around for way too long. I'll make sure that setting is changed to a much larger number. This one shouldn't happen again.
Is '[email protected]' listed as a contact for the debain mirror? Lee had to go do this silly thing with graduating and getting a real job so officially he has no connection with RIT anymore. We don't use the ftpsync script, we use rsync in our own wrapper setup. I'll update the trace file logic shortly. -- Paul Mezzanini Sr Systems Administrator / Engineer Research Support @ RIT 585.475.3245 -----Original Message----- From: Peter Palfrader [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2017 7:17 AM To: Paul Mezzanini <[email protected]>; [email protected] Cc: Lee Burton <[email protected]>; mirrors <[email protected]> Subject: Re: Bug#855110: [mirror.rit.edu] does not remove files On Wed, 22 Feb 2017, Paul Mezzanini wrote: > Apparently debian decided to do a mass delete way bigger than our > --max-delete option. And your mirror has files that it should have removed over a year ago. Anyway, while you are looking at your mirror, could you please also move to using (a recent version of) our ftpsync? Using a modern ftpsync ensures updates are done in the correct order so apt clients don't get confused. In particular, it processes translations, contents, and more files that have been added to the archive in recent years in the correct stage. It also should produce trace files that contain more information that is useful for us. http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/project/ftpsync/ftpsync-current.tar.gz http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/project/trace/mirrors.rit.edu Cheers, > -----Original Message----- > From: Peter Palfrader [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2017 2:58 AM > To: Lee Burton <[email protected]>; mirrors <[email protected]> > Cc: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Bug#855110: [mirror.rit.edu] does not remove files > > ping > > On Tue, 14 Feb 2017, Peter Palfrader wrote: > > > ----- Forwarded message from Peter Palfrader <[email protected]> > > ----- > > > > From: Peter Palfrader <[email protected]> > > Subject: debian mirror mirror.rit.edu > > To: Lee Burton <[email protected]> > > Cc: Debian Mirror Team <[email protected]> > > Reply-To: Debian Mirror Team <[email protected]> > > Date: Sun, 12 Feb 2017 16:14:31 +0000 > > Message-ID: <[email protected]> > > > > Hi, > > > > it appears the debian mirror at http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/ does > > not remove old files. > > > > Comapre for instance > > http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/pool/main/i/ipe/ > > with > > http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/i/ipe/ > > and also see > > http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/project/trace/ > > > > Also please update your ftpsync version [1] to produce a more > > verbose trace file at > > http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/project/trace/mirrors.rit.edu > > > > Cheers, > > Peter > > 1 > > http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/project/ftpsync/ftpsync-20160306.tar.gz > -- | .''`. ** Debian ** Peter Palfrader | : :' : The universal https://www.palfrader.org/ | `. `' Operating System | `- https://www.debian.org/
