Dear Giuseppe, with wheezy, the password wasn't stored in hosts.hfaxd. I guess, that PAM was used from the server's first day on, but I can't say for sure, since the server is far older than our century and since there does not and has never a file /etc/pam.d/hylafax existed. An "ls -l /etc/hylafax/" makes not much sense, since due to my repair attempts I made several severe changings today, but I can (more or less, owner information might be faulty) roll back to the yesterday's state (below). The upgrade took place on April, 30th (my users use the server regurlarly for receiving fax, but very rare for sending, so the bug could slumber several weeks). None of the configuration files had been touched since then. A file /etc/pam.d/hylafax did, as said before, never exist. I can roll back into february, long before the upgrade, and even than this file did not exist. Find attached the zipped configuration files from february and from yesterday. The file FaxDispatch isn't originally, since I'm not allowed to propagate the personal mail addresses this file contains.
