Since it does not violate the policy (IMHO) I've changed the bug's severity to minor. I've prepared the debconf templates to be processed by po-debconf using debconf-gettextize. Patrick needs to do the packaging part to make it work. I'm not a debconf/i18n/l10n expert, but from my understanding it should make the debconf UI part translatable.
