As previously discussed there's a size limitations of dos partitions and all that's possible is to warn about this. This warning has existed since util-linux 2.15 already. commit ee5355e0052889792601c18cae2db0c17d68f61b Author: Karel Zak <[email protected]> Date: Tue Aug 19 13:53:28 2008 +0200 fdisk: warn users about 2.2TB dos partition limit After that (the new lib)fdisk grew support for GUID partition tables (GPT) which means you should now be able to partition bigger disks using fdisk. (I'm not sure what the exact status is for cfdisk and the merged in bug report though.... Maybe that one should be unmerged and handled separately.)
